Craig Ristuccia grew up locally, and often refers to Charlotte as his childhood “stomping grounds”. After graduating from Alfred State College he started his own business, Straight Line Contractors in 1983, with an unparalleled reputation for quality workmanship and customer service. During that time Craig had his eye on the Hose 22 firehouse, and when the opportunity came along he grabbed it and worked diligently to restore and preserve every detail of the building. Craig took every step imaginable to ensure the full potential of the building was met, not just restoring the glory of the neglected building, but taking it to new heights. Hose 22 Firehouse Grill opened in 2009 and has been a staple of the community since.

As a resident in Charlotte, with the addition of the The Stutson House restoration and the acquisition of Jetty at the Port along with other commercial and residential properties, Craig has dedicated himself to the restaurant and catering industry in Charlotte, taking full advantage of Rochester’s beautiful, often underutilized waterfront area. Each location is unique, authentic with major focuses on the local history and a special eye on all the details.

Nikol has been operating and managing restaurants for over 15 years. Upon graduating from RIT with a degree in Illustration, she moved to Brooklyn and became immersed in the culture of hospitality and the inner workings of the food and beverage industry. After three years in NYC, Nikol returned home to her native City of Rochester, and became the Director of Operations at Hose 22 Firehouse Grill and her Dad’s right hand in all operations. For the past eight years, Nikol has coordinated and overseen every detail of the business; from day-to-day operations, catering, staffing, special events, marketing, and plans for long term business growth including the addition of the Stutson House and Jetty at the Port. She passionately leads her staff, providing exemplary customer service and hospitality and treats each event as if it was her own.

History of the Hose Company 22 Firehouse

The firehouse has been standing on Stutson Street since 1916, and was considered the crown jewel of Charlotte, with its intricate facade and grand architecture. Hose Company No. 22 operated here until 1962, eventually moving out to a more modern facility, leaving the building vacant for 47 years. A fire broke out in the empty building severely damaging the floors, ceiling and roof, evidence of this can still be seen on some scorched bricks on the second floor. The building was then boarded up and the pigeons took over.

Fast forward to November 2007, when the firehouse was
purchased by Craig Ristuccia and converted into the restaurant it is today. Over a two-year period it was gutted, every window and door replaced, tin ceilings added and floors repaired and refinished, all while paying attention to the tiniest details. A new slate roof and copper gutters were added, the fire poles replaced, even the wrought iron balcony out front has been meticulously replicated.  All the restorations were done based off old photos of the building, and an outreach to the community has yielded some incredible donations of historical photos and memorabilia on display.
